These apparitions occurred in 1917, and the site where they took place is now known as the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima.

It consists of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Chapel of the Apparitions (built at the exact spot where the apparitions occurred), and the Basilica of the Holy Trinity. After miraculously surviving, he attributed his recovery to the intervention of the Virgin Mary. The relationship with Fátima is linked to the apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima to three children in 1917, in the city of Fátima, Portugal. In 1982, Pope John Paul II visited Fátima to thank the Virgin Mary for interceding in his life during the attack. During that visit, he donated the bullet that hit him to the crown of the statue of Our Lady of Fátima. Furthermore, Pope John Paul II believed in the messages of Fatima, which included visions of hell, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and a vision of the attack on a “bishop dressed in white” (an interpretation associated with the attack on himself). He visited Fátima on several occasions, including the beatification and canonization of the Fátima seers Jacinta and Francisco Marto. Fátima remains an important pilgrimage site for Catholics around the world.

Fátima to Santiago de Compostela: Although Fátima and the Camino de Santiago de Compostela are located in different countries (Portugal and Spain, respectively), some pilgrims choose to undertake a pilgrimage that includes both destinations.

Camino de Santiago: There are several Camino de Santiago routes, with the Portuguese Way being a popular option for those departing from Fátima. The Portuguese Coastal Way or the Central Portuguese Way are common choices.
